Party Ideas

Who doesn't love a party?

As the librarian next year I want to have reading incentives/parties for reaching reading goals. This would be for reading specific genres/completing a Bingo card, reading for some many minutes, etc.

Some ideas I have so far are...
50's party serve rootbeer floats
Hollywood Party with a red carpet
Sport's teamed party
Luau Party
Bookworm Party

We have 10 months a year we are in school!! What other theme ideas can you come up with? What month do you think I should do each party? Thanks

Sorry....

So SORRY I have been MIA! This week is my Spring Break. I am in Vail, Colorado learning to ski with the hubby! The last time I skiied I was 8 years old. I am now 25. My hubby is a great skier. I have been in lessons all week. We arrived on Saturday. Today was my 4th day of lessons and I went down the hardest green in Vail. :-)

I am preparing for the end of the school year as many of you are. When we return from Spring Break we will begin a reading unit on Chocolate Touch and then end the year with Chocolate Fever. We are well into learning our multiplication and division facts. We started capacity before we left for Spring Break. We will make gallon man when we return to review the concepts and then move on to liters, milliliters, decimenters, kilometers, etc.

Hope everybody has had a great Spring Break! We will deserve it!

Favorite Read Alouds....

Since I am not the librarian, I will be having all grades K-5th. What are some of your favorite read alouds with each grade?

I love Kevin Henkes, Eric Carle for younger
3rd Grade- E.B. White, Patricia Palaco, Judy Blume
4th and 5th- Andrew Clements

What are some books you students love, love, love?

I also want to make a classbook for each grade. Has anyone done this. What are some good companies to use?

Favorite Technology

What is your favorite technology that you use in your classroom!!

I love my SmartBoard and all the resources out there for it. I love the blog community but want and need to incorporate more technolgy into my classroom!

If you have iPads I would love to know how you use them in your room and your favorite apps. I just found Math Kingdom and love it!

This may be a dumb question, but I would love to know more about google reader and google docs! I have used google docs a little but am sure there is some tutorial about how to use it better!!

What games/activites do you use that incorporate technology?
I can't wait to see how you incorporate it daily or even monthly for projects!

Do you Library?

Do you like the catchy title?

Our technology director/media specialist/librarian is leaving our school this year.

Each class comes 45 minutes once a week.

I am going to be offered the job and have an interview tomorrow. Please help me prepare. What do you wish your librarian did with your kiddos?

Thanks

How do you do it!!!

So many of you have such super cute ideas. I see them and think oooo I could have done that. Then I sit down and try and just get frustrated.

Thank you
Dana at 3rd Grade Gridion- I have bought so much from your store
One Extra Degree- awesome
Fabulous in Fourth
4th Grade Frolics
Dandelions and Dragonfiles- prefix/suffix tree

These are just a few thank you so much!

When I first started my degree, a professor told me beg, borrow and steal. Well I haven't stole but I have done my fair share of borrowing. Thank you to all the great bloggers for inspiring me. All though sometimes, I feel like I don't do enough in my room.
